The Dyers’ Souk being the last to be visited you emerge into the famous Djemâa el Fna Square (which translates as ‘Assembly of the Dead’), where, until the 19th century, the severed heads of criminals were traditionally displayed. Now we see stalls of goods, from fruit to alarm clocks; snake charmers and water sellers; fortune tellers and public scribes; tumblers and nakkachat - women with syringes full of henna – soothsayers and gnaoua musicians. A short transfer into the palm groves brings you to the base where you will be fitted out with safety equipment and vehicle, which can carry a driver & passenger. After vehicle familiarisation (all automatic gearboxes), head off through Berber countryside villages, stopping to enjoy spectacular views. 4hrs total (3hrs in the saddle) you may want to consider a massage the next day!
Moroccan Cookery Class La Maison Arabe: 95$ per person – Min 2PAx
Your cooking workshop starts with a general introduction to Moroccan cooking, highlighting the importance of cooking in Moroccan society, and the role played over the centuries by the Dada –the traditional female cook. Get an overview of the most traditional recipes such as Pastilla, Cous cous and the many Tagines; with descriptions of the ingredients and the all-important spices, and the different methods of cooking. Participants are then acquainted with the recipe of the day and review the ingredients that will be used. Each participant has his/her own workstation and equipment and follows step by step the preparation of the dish. A typical workshop teaches an appetizer/salad and a main dish. After class it’s time to taste the final results!! The participants enjoy the meal they have prepared in the shade of fig or olive trees by the hotel pool.

Begin with an exciting drive south through to one of Morocco’s longest and most beautifully refreshing valley of Ourika, teeming with lush vegetation, palmeraies, steep-sides gorges, ancient terraced irrigated fields and Berber hamlets. Continue through hills of ever-changing colours, in the midst of olive groves, through the Jbel Oukaïmeden range, where the snow falls every winter. Now circle down to the Berber hamlet of Tahanaoute, up and over the hairpin bends of the Moulay Brahim Gorges and through the village of Asni which holds a popular Saturday Souk. Upon arrival at the Berber trailhead town of Imlil (1740m) enjoy a delicious traditional lunch (inc) on the terrace of a gîte d’étape. With the mighty Jbel Toubkal - at 4167m the highest peak in the Maghreb - almost within touching distance, set off on a guided walk to the Berber village of Aremd (1843m). Rest a while in this village built house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn and vegetables surrounded by walnut and almond trees then return through spectacular scenery to rejoin the vehicle at Imlil for the return to Marrakech.
